Privacy Policy for NightPulse

1. Introduction

NightPulse ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how the NightPulse mobile application ("App") handles information when you use it for overnight snoring detection and sleep tracking. Please read this Privacy Policy carefully. If you do not agree with it, please do not install or use the App.

2. Data Controller

The data controller is the owner of the NightPulse application. For any questions regarding this Privacy Policy, please use the contact details in the "Contact" section below.

3. Summary in Plain Language

  • NightPulse has no backend server, no user accounts, and no cloud sync.
  • All snoring detection runs on your device. Audio is never sent to us.
  • Recordings, reports, tags, and settings stay on your phone.
  • Purchases are processed by Apple App Store or Google Play Store and by RevenueCat for receipt validation.

4. What Data We Collect

4.1. Audio Recordings

The App records audio from the device microphone during sleep sessions you explicitly start. Recordings are:

  • Stored locally in the App's private storage area on your device
  • Processed locally by an on-device machine learning model (YAMNet TFLite) for snoring detection
  • Never uploaded, transmitted, or shared with us or any third party
  • Automatically deleted according to the retention setting you choose (immediately after analysis, after 3 days, 7 days, 30 days, or kept indefinitely — default 3 days)

4.2. Analysis Results and Reports

The App stores the following data locally on your device:

  • Snore score (0–100), episode count, intensity chart, and timeline for each night
  • Session start and end time, total duration, and recording metadata
  • Night tags you assign (for example: alcohol, stress, sport, caffeine, allergy)
  • Detection sensitivity and other App preferences

This data is stored in the App's local database and is not transmitted to any server.

4.3. Purchase Data

When you start the trial or purchase lifetime access, the following data is processed:

  • Apple App Store / Google Play Store process the transaction according to their own terms and privacy policies
  • RevenueCat is used to validate purchase receipts and track entitlement status. RevenueCat may receive an anonymous app user ID, the store transaction identifier, the country, and the device platform. See RevenueCat Privacy Policy for details
  • We do not receive your payment method, card number, or billing address

4.4. System Permissions

The App requests the following runtime permissions:

  • Microphone — required to record and analyze snoring during sleep sessions
  • Notifications — optional, used only to deliver the evening sleep reminder and to keep the background recording service visible on Android

4.5. What We Do NOT Collect

NightPulse does not collect, process, or transmit:

  • Your name, email address, or any account identifiers (no sign-in is required)
  • Location data
  • Contacts, calendar, or photo library
  • Health platform data (Apple Health, Google Fit are not integrated)
  • Device advertising identifiers
  • Crash reports or usage analytics

5. How Data Is Used

Data collected by the App is used exclusively to:

  • Detect snoring on-device from the audio you record
  • Generate your nightly report, snore score, intensity chart, and timeline
  • Produce multi-night trends and tag correlations from data stored on your device
  • Generate PDF exports you can share at your discretion
  • Validate your purchase and unlock lifetime access through the App Store, Google Play, and RevenueCat

6. Data Storage and Security

6.1. On-Device Storage

All audio, reports, tags, and settings are stored in the App's sandboxed storage area. Operating system sandboxing prevents other apps from accessing this data. Uninstalling the App removes all locally stored data.

6.2. No Cloud Storage

NightPulse does not use Firebase Storage, iCloud, Google Drive, or any other cloud storage service for your audio or reports. There is no backend database that stores user data.

6.3. Transport Security

The only outbound network traffic the App performs is:

  • Purchase receipt validation through RevenueCat (over HTTPS)
  • Standard store transactions handled by the operating system

No audio data and no sleep data ever leaves the device.

7. Third-Party Services

NightPulse uses a small set of third-party components:

  • Apple App Store / Google Play Store — purchase processing and app distribution
  • RevenueCat — purchase receipt validation and entitlement tracking
  • YAMNet (on-device TFLite model) — runs locally on your device; does not transmit any data

8. Export and Sharing

PDF reports and audio files can be exported from the App only when you choose to share them. The App does not share any content on your behalf. Once you export or share a file, it leaves the App's sandbox and is governed by the service or person you share it with.

9. Your Rights

Because the App does not send your sleep data to us, most data rights can be exercised directly on your device:

  • Access — all your data is visible in the App
  • Deletion — you can delete individual sessions or uninstall the App to remove all data
  • Portability — export any session as PDF or share the original audio file
  • Withdraw consent — revoke microphone or notification permissions in your device settings at any time

Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), and other applicable laws, you retain these rights for any data we may hold through RevenueCat (anonymous app user ID + transaction identifier). Requests can be sent to the contact address below.

10. Children's Privacy

NightPulse is not directed at children under the age of 13 and is not intended for use in pediatric sleep monitoring. We do not knowingly process any personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has used the App, deleting the App will remove all locally stored data.

11. International Data Transfers

Purchase receipt data handled by RevenueCat and the app stores may be processed in countries other than your country of residence, including the United States. By using the App, you consent to such transfers for the limited purpose of purchase validation.

12. Data Retention

  • Audio recordings — kept on your device according to your retention setting (default 3 days). You can remove them at any time
  • Nightly reports, tags, and settings — kept on your device until you delete them or uninstall the App
  • RevenueCat purchase data — retained according to RevenueCat's policies for entitlement validation

13. Medical Disclaimer

NightPulse is not a medical device and does not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease, including sleep apnea. The snore score and reports are informational only. Consult a qualified healthcare professional for any medical concern related to sleep.

14. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Updates will be reflected by revising the "Last Updated" date and publishing the new version on this page. Continued use of the App after the update constitutes acceptance of the revised Privacy Policy.
